My Master Key Experience

Week 5 – House Cleaning

So, as some of you may have read, I now work from home.  After more than 40 years in the traditional work force, events came together and helped me find my purpose, almost overnight.  And my house, especially since I had guests last weekend, is cleaner than it has been in a long time.

As I go through this process of  the Master Key System, it affects me internally and my external world begins to reflect the changes.  This week, we’re practicing mental house-cleaning, doing away with opinions, dumping negative thoughts, staying true to the reason we are HERE.  Suddenly, that box of papers of old memories and potential articles research isn’t so important any more.  That doesn’t fit my Definite Major Purpose.  Out it goes, and more free I feel.  Same with the negative thoughts and opinions.  Toss them out, and wow, I feel more free and light.

In our readings, Haanel says, “The thing to do is to have a mental house-cleaning, and to have this house-cleaning every day, and keep the house clean.  Mental, moral and physical cleanliness are absolutely indispensable if we are to make progress of any kind.

“When this mental house-cleaning process has been completed, the material which is left will be suitable for the making of the kind of ideals or mental images which we desire to realize.”

And so I close this week with a little house-cleaning struggle (sometimes it’s not so easy, inwardly or on the outer), “I work from home”, vs. unemployment check available to pay the bills as long as I get out there and pound the pavement looking for another job.

The Universe delivers an answer – while I was doing some SERIOUS inner house-cleaning last weekend by attending a religious seminar, the Divine delivered — one offer to assist in building marketing for a professional in town, then another offer to do something very similar and provide admin services also for a second small business owner, then an email that a former workmate heard I was available and has some potential work for me, then a request from a girlfriend to take a huge commission if I help her expand her business into other states, then an offer to go for breakfast and talk with another girlfriend about a consulting project, and finally, a former boss explaining that he is about to write a complicated 9-month project contract if I’ll work on it for him!

I’m exhausted before I’m begun, but all in a very grateful, satisfied way, like the same way your heart fills when you’ve completed a volunteer project and you’ve helped make others very happy.  (Oh, yeah, managers at the facility where I volunteer suggested there may be some part-time paid work available there also!)  God, how I love life!  It’s as much fun to watch this unfolding as it is to live it!
